About our speaker: Patty Perez

 Patty’s Office of Attorney General Child Support Division (OAG CSD) journey began in 2009 as the Central Texas-Waco-Bryan-College Station-Victoria area Regional Outreach and Volunteer Intern Coordinator. The opportunity to speak to parents, partners, and young people about the services, laws impacting parenthood and child and medical support has been one of the highlights of her career. In 2018 Patty accepted the offer and opportunity to train CSD staff as a Human Resource Management Training Specialist on topics near and dear to her heart - Customer Service, Family Violence Awareness, Business Writing, and Interviewing for Top Talent. All the while, participating in the division's Mentor Program – where she has been a CSD mentor to five of the most amazing coworkers and states she got so much from the experience, she’s not sure who mentored whom! She’s two years into her current role as Outreach Coordinator for the Employer Services and Partner Outreach team and embraces the opportunity to engage with employers on their role in helping us achieve our mission to provide the support to the moms and dads who work for them, ultimately helping the children and families of Texas.

Prior to working for the CSD Patty worked for eight years for the Austin based National Domestic Violence Hotline and Texas Council on Family Violence raising awareness and educating Texans and Americans on the prevalence, prevention, and ultimate price paid for family violence in our homes and workplaces as a Community Relations Specialist and Communication Projects Specialist.

Patty is a lifetime Austinite, Longhorn and Ohio State Buckeye alum and single parent who raised a daughter who is now a high school science teacher.

Each year, employers help the Office of the Attorney General:

• Collect about 80% of all child support paid in the state—totaling $4.4 billion in 2024
• Respond to almost 150,000 National Medical Support Notices
• Enroll approximately 110,000 Texas children in employer-sponsored health insurance programs
