Understanding EI can be challenging.  Join us as our speaker gives us his insight into EI.  Gaining a better understand will give us a unique perspective on how to incorporate EI into our payroll world.  

About our Speaker:

Jim has been working in payroll for over 30 years in both the corporate world and the Payroll Service Bureau industry.  He currently is the President & COO for Basic Payroll, a full service Payroll Service Bureau and software provider that serves 1,500 clients nationwide and has offices in Madison, WI and Grand Rapids, MI.  Jim has been a member of PAYO and the West Michigan Chapter since 2000 and a Certified Payroll Professional since 2008.  He was President of the West Michigan Chapter from 2004-2006 and still goes back as a member and speaker.  He is a member of the Michigan Statewide for Payroll Professionals Board since 2004, serving as Entertainment Chair and as Conference Chair in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2015.  He was honored as the Michigan Payroll Man of the Year in 2006.  For PAYO, he has served as a Board of Advisor from 2007-2011 and from 2020-2022, led the Nominations and Elections committee, the Chapter Recognition Committee and has been a PayTech contributing writer.  He also received a Meritorious Service Award in 2009.  Currently, he serves PAYO as the President of the Board.

Jim spends his free time coaching youth sports and chasing/supporting his seven children in their numerous endeavors.  He previously sat on the boards of the Evolution Licensee Association and the Aquinas Alumni Leadership Council (serving as the President).  He also has served on Band and Athletic Boosters boards and is very active in his Church Community.

Jim is excited for the opportunity to give back to the PAYO members and the community and is looking forward to continuing to push the Association forward, maintaining the PAYO vision.
